gold to oil ratio was around 20, some mean reversion funds started to buy gold and sell oil when the ratio came down to 12. The ratio is now under 8! What does that tell us? How long would it take for mean reversion to hold truth? I don't have a good answer; however, I think we are in a new commodities era where fundamental pictures have changed completely. Some historical means and concepts may be gone for good.
